The officers and directors of the Robert Benchley Society conferenced by phone on March 26, 2005. Participating were RBS chairman Mr. David Trumbull, secretary Mrs. David (Sharon) Lyon, and directors Mr. Kevin Fitzpatrick and Mr. Gordon Ernst. Boston member Mr. Christopher Morgan also participated.
Mr. Trumbull reported that the submissions for the Espree Magazine/RBS Humor Competition were expected shortly from the magazine and will be judged by the officers of the association.
Mr. Fitzpatrick reported on his successful effort to get a Friends of Libraries historical marker placed at the location of Dorothy Parker's natal home and encourged the RBS to do likewise if there is a suitable location in Worcester. Mr. Trumbull reported that Jeanice Sherman of the City of Worcester Historical Commission was pursuing this very idea. Mr. Trumbull also reported on his communications with a gentleman in Los Angeles who is pursuing a plague for Mr. Benchley's friend F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Mr. Christopher Morgan agreed to serve as a director of the RBS.
The rest of the conference was given over to planning a Labor Day Weekend RBS event in Boston.
The meeting adjourned until September 3rd.
